Six brand new websites, designed by Websites with Aloha, launched this week for the Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai and Big Island Invasive Species Committees as well as for the Coordinating Group on Alien Pest Species. These committees work together with the Hawaii Invasive Species Council to help control and eradicate harmful invasive species throughout the Hawaiian Islands. The websites are important for community involvement and education about different target species affecting each island, what to do if a target species or pest is identified, and how to prevent the introduction of other invasive species that may be harmful.
Websites with Aloha is honored to have been chosen by such a large group of organizations doing such important work across the islands. The goal was to have a similar look between the sites, while also allowing each organization to express their uniqueness through some individual design choices. So we approached this project in stages. First, by bringing about a consensus regarding the core design. Then secondly, we worked individually with committee coordinators to fine-tune their preferences. Some of the special features chosen were mailing list sign-ups, calendars, and blogs.
Finally, the project wrapped up with the design of a portal to link all the sites together, which can be found at at www.hawaiiinvasivespecies.org. — Be sure to scroll down to view images of all 6 sites plus the portal!
