StoptheAnt.org is a collaboration between more than 20 different organizations and businesses, including the Invasive Species Committees of Hawaiʻi, in on-going efforts to address the threats little fire ants (lfa) pose to both humans and animals across the state. The new website will help bring more awareness to the issues, and help spread the word about ways for communities around the islands to get involved & “Spot the ant and stop the ant”.
Since the site contains a wealth of information, they wanted the overall look and feel to be clean and modern. The predominantly white background allows for the “Report Little Fire Ants” call-to-actions to really stand out. Most pages are full-width with no sidebar, allowing site visitors to focus on content, including videos providing instructions on how to survey yards for lfa. The goal of sharing information about lfa to people across all the islands is achieved through Announcements posts, an Instagram feed and the Facebook stream, all three of which featured prominently on the home page.
