Sometimes it’s nice to see the big picture before getting started. We’ve created this checklist to give you an overview of the Getting Started Steps that need to be completed before we can bring your website to life.
Don’t worry, we’ll be there to help guide you through the process.
Step 1. Sign the Memo of Understanding and Pay Your Deposit
You should have already received an Estimate & Memo of Understanding from us. After reading through the document, please sign the last page and either email the document back to us, or mail to Websites with Aloha, PO Box 1004, Kamuela, HI 96743.
You may also mail your deposit check of $350 to us at the above address. If you would prefer to pay with a credit card, please let us know and we will email you a link to pay online.
Step 2. Set up Hosting & Purchase a Domain Name (if you haven’t already)
We recommend Dreamhost, as they use solid state hard drives which significantly increases site speed, as well as for the cost-effectiveness of their basic Shared Hosting plan. (As low as $7.95/mo) The cost of your domain is included for free for the first year.
Already have an existing site and/or already have your domain and hosting set up? We can work with most hosting companies.
If you would like our help with setting up your domain hosting account, please let us know (there will be an additional charge). Additionally we will need a credit card to put on file with the host.
Step 3. Begin Creating your Site Map
A site map is a breakdown of the pages that you want to include on your website using an outline format, and is a way for us to understand the total number of pages that will be included on your site, as well as the structure or logic that you would like to organize them by. Please let us know if you need further guidance with regards to this step. We’re happy to help you brainstorm and a great time to do this would be during Step 4…
Step 4. The Vision Interview
During this meeting (usually by phone) we can discuss your overall vision and get to know your design preferences for your website. To prepare for this meeting please have a rough draft of your site map ready and also find examples of two or three different websites (either of your own choice or from our Portfolio) that you really like and be prepared to tell us what elements you like about the example sites.

Step 5. Create and Deliver Your Site Content
Once you have written the content for your site’s pages and decided which images you’d like to use to add visual interest, it’s time for you to share it with us. Normally, we prefer to share content via Dropbox, especially when large image files are involved. If you do not have a Dropbox account, you can set up one here. It is a free (and secure) way to share files via the internet. Dropbox will provide instructions on how to download the program to your computer so you can create a folder where we can begin to share files. If you need additional instructions on how to share your folder with us, just let us know.
Please use a separate document for each page on your website and name it appropriately. Put this document in a folder in the Dropbox with the same name and place in this folder any photos you wish to be on this page.

Step 6. Design Commences!
